Carbohydrate-limiting for weight loss and candida diet

What is the problem with ketosis? Is the ketosis bad for the health? Which doctors believe giving all carbohydrates are a bad thing to do? Do you know any of the bad symptoms of ketosis?

Well, heres a response to a question regarding carbohydrate-limiting for weight loss, but its still relevant.

If glucose is not available for fuel by your limiting dietary carbohydrates, your body learns to run on ketones, but your brain doesn’t. Your brain gets sluggish because it only runs on glucose. Your body starts breaking down muscle and organ tissue to provide the needed glucose for brain tissue. Protein contains glucose in its structure and it can be scavenged for use by the brain and nerves. Quick weight loss diets claim they spare muscle protein, but they don’t. A diet high in protein and low in carbohydrates does not spare muscle protein from being broken down, unless you eat enough carbohydrate. As you continue on a high protein, low carbohydrate diet, the amount of ketones increases and ketosis occurs. Ketones are very irritating to your kidneys and the kidneys try to get rid of the ketones through the urine.

Atkins diet dates back to the 1960′s and is basically a semi-starvation diet that is very low in carbohydrates and high in protein. It usually contained less than 600 calories per day. A low calorie diet is usually less than 1,000 calories per day, but not low carbohydrate.

Low calorie and low carbohydrate diets can be used under medical supervision for morbid obese persons (twice their healthy body weight or at least 100 pounds overweight). Under other circumstances, theyre not recommended. The problem with these diets is that after the first few days, body stores of glucose (glycogen) are depleted, the body turns to the only other source of glucose in the body which is lean muscle tissue (organs and muscles). Metabolic rate decreases because the body thinks it is starving and because the muscles that burn calories are cannibalized to provide glucose.

Starvation affects all persons the same. The difference is how much stored glycogen and lean muscle tissue does the person have to lose before dehydration or death occurs.

Sorry but you haven’t got all the facts the only part that was right was the about it being a diet for obese people. being in ketosis does not mean that you will be on a low calorie diet some people put on weight because they have to much calories, a diet high in carbs whether good or refine is not good especially for some people and living a low healthy carb lifestyle is necessary to stay healthy. Also your brain does function by using ketone’s many people have reported feeling sluggish to begin with but after a while your mind becomes very alert and clear as i have experienced during ketosis for 6mths and was checked out by the doctors i lost 100 pounds and did not lose a inch of muscle and everything was fine i was in the best of health as i made sure i had enough protein intake. Basically if done correct by eating lots of veg a little fruit good lean meats and fish a few nuts for snacks and a handful of complex carbs it takes a while for you to get into ketosis roughly a week with exercise but you wont be sick because your eating healthy .
Being in ketosis really has to be researched properly before anyone decides to do it their is no short cut to living healthy
